100% Ecological cotton
Another goal of URKRAFT is to constantly push the limits of what we call ecological or sustainable clothing.
We start out with GOTS certified, 100% ecological cotton.
Unfortunately, we have not been able to find garments not made in Asia YET. But it’s a future goal. This is to cut out as much transportation as possible. Because one aspect of the term sustainability is local production, as this minimizes the CO2 footprint, on the journey from production to user.
We are searching in the areas of both hemp and linen as substitutes for cotton as the production of even ecological cotton still isn’t especially sustainable.
100% Handmade Designs
The designs are handmade from beginning to end by tattooist and artist Ullrs Blod.
No photoshop or drawing programs made it possible to mirror or correct the work into digitally perfect symmetrical creations.
On the other hand, you will get sweat n blood-created designs, being small sagas in themselves told in the details, the symbols, and the intentions.
The Print
The printing is done locally in Denmark near Copenhagen by masters in the field. Even the printing materials and the process is marked with the highest of ecological certifications, the GOTS certification. Which means toxic-free garments for your temple to wear.
It’s our biggest ambition to deliver apparel to you of the highest quality possible, as ecological and sustainable as possible, and at the same time keep pushing the limits of what is possible.
Sustainability?
We can´t justify calling clothing sustainable, just because it's made of 100% ecological cotton, ecological print colors, and is produced locally. There is so much more to sustainability.
Did you know for instance that to produce 1 t-shirt, also of ecological cotton, it takes 3000 ltr. of water? That's not to take care of the environment. Not good enough, but it's where the industry seems to be stuck today.
We can justify saying it's 100% ecological cotton. That the prints are 100% ecological and made locally.
But we must find new ways to do even better. We hope you will follow and support our process of being a part of revolutionizing the clothing industry.
Fortunately more and more new garments are being created based on recycled fibers. That is a good step in a better direction.
